Overview

Once you have onboarded one of your customers to Layer by creating a Business, you can start importing their financial data. The more complete the data you send, the more accurate your customers’ books, reports, and reconciliations will be. Layer supports several types of financial data:

Data type	What it covers	How it’s imported
Bank data	Bank account and credit card activity	Plaid, or directly from your platform’s embedded accounts
Sales / AR data	Invoices, payments, and payouts (accounts receivable)	Invoice & Payout APIs
Bill / AP data	Vendor bills and the payments made against them (accounts payable)	Bill API
Payroll data	Wages, taxes, and related payroll activity	Check Payroll integration
Loan data	Loans, lines of credit, and their repayments	Custom accounts & categorization

For a complete accounting picture, most platforms import bank data and sales / AR data at a minimum. Bill / AP, payroll, and loan data add further detail depending on your customers’ needs.
